A group of four supporters are a prime example.
The four siblings had their travel arrangements and match passes secured for the Boxing Day and New Year Tests "well ahead of time", anticipating a historic English victory.
Sadly, they've observed Australia defeat England convincingly in just a short period from their residence in their hometown.
"People in the office has been making comments that the series is done for the last two weeks," said Sam.
"Our expectation had been that we would have a meaningful contest upon our arrival."
Fading Positivity
Hope was abundant regarding the team's prospects of ending their 15-year wait for a series win in Australia ahead of the tour.
Yet now they are facing the prospect of prolonging a streak without victory in the country to 19 consecutive Tests when the Boxing Day Test begins in the MCG on Christmas Day.
The tourists - and their supporters - will be hoping to sidestep a whitewash.
It was mentioned that the "excitement and fun" of head coach Brendon McCullum's 'Bazball' in recent years had "reinvigorated" the longest format for English supporters.
However, the group said they had minimal hopes for the final two games - and all they are requesting from the players is "a bit of fight".

Even with the series lost, the siblings are still excited about the trip.
"We are going to have a great time regardless," said Katie. "We must adopt that mindset."
"Obviously it is a let-down we can't contest the series, but we have made a substantial financial commitment as it is."
"We will make the most of having Christmas and New Year out there. Additionally, it's a new experience for us traveling over Christmas."
An educator, Katie is focused on enjoying the 21,000-mile round-trip as part of her seasonal break.
"Should the cricket disappoint, there's always golf to fall back on," she added.
