Liverpool's Star Issues Statement to Squad, Says Curtis Jones
Jones has shared that Mohamed Salah expressed regret to the team after the fallout from his televised remarks.
The Incident
The striker was dropped from a vital match following making accusations and suggesting his connection to the head coach had deteriorated.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I apologise.’”
The manager has previously declined to comment publicly on whether he was apologised to from the 33-year-old forward.
Moving Forward
He emphasized that the team's response stayed normal. “Nothing about him changed, he had a big smile on his face and we all treated him normally,” the midfielder explained.
Jones also suggested that a teammate fighting for a place is less of an issue. “I understand there are certain ways you can go about things,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just be on the bench, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
Team Form
The team's performance have remained strong in the period after the situation. Jones believes the outburst were not designed to cause disruption.
“If passion has boiled over, it has consistently come from a good place,” the midfielder stated. “We’re past that now and we’re uniting strongly, getting results and starting to win games.”
